15 @ 15: Your $15 donation for dance scholarships

Rally up 15 friends and family to donate $15 ea. to DeDe Dance Studio for DeDe Dance Studio 2nd Annual DeDe Dance Camp.

Why? The 1st Annual DeDe Dance Camp was a great start but this year will be dynamic if we can provide up to 10 partial ride scholarships for the youth. DeDe Dance Camp is an amazing opportunity for children to partake in a intensive dance program for 5 weeks in the summer. It is called a camp because they are there nearly "all-day" from 8am - 5pm and by the time they get home they are ready for dinner and then bed. DeDe Dance Camp offers educational enrichment, nutritional meal programs, multicultural arts, fieldtrips and a live talent showcase that culminates their experiences. Brittny Rodgers (to the right), 10-year-old, Dancer of The Month (July 2008) wrote in her reflection, " I learned that dance can help you express yourself in creative ways. DeDe Dance Camp helped me meet new friends, become a better dancer, and have a positive attitude not just dance well. I also learned how to eat nutritionally. I will work hard in school so that I can do it again next year and not have to go to summer school."

Tips on How To: Recruiting 15 friends may seem unappealing at first. But if you trust me and use our tips and tricks you just might find yourself recruiting 15 and beyond.

  1. Start by familiarizing yourself with DeDe Dance Camp and the dance studio as a whole. If you are close friends of Deara, call her and learn more so that you acquire more knowledge about what you plan to sale to people.
  2. Next, ask your immediate family members first. Whenever, I need something, I usually go to my mommy first and then my dad, brothers etc. 9.9 out of 10 times they are there to support. The .1 percent is correlates to when I ask them to buy me a Hello Kitty Car. smile.
  3. Social/Religious Groups: For me this is church. During the announcements time, let folks know the cause, outcomes and their benefits. But once again if you haven't familiarized yourself with the program, you probably won't be able to "own it" and succeed in convincing folks.
  4. School/Work: Yes, this is NOT a BAD IDEA! Unless you don't have good & loyal relationships with your teacher, colleagues, staff and/or administration. You can ask anyone from a P.E. Coach to your Boss. At the university, I usually ask the professor that I know really likes me. As an educator, I usually seek my co-workers to support my endeavors and they reciprocally.
  5. Friends: This can go anytime after number 1. Friends can also help you gather more supporters.
  6. Pace Yourself - Don't try to recruit supporters all in 1 day. Set realistic goals but have high hopes.
  7. Try it again: If you don't succeed the first time, brush yourself up and try it again. No worries. You learn from trial and error and people believe in you and respect your more when you don't give up.
  8. Finally and most importantly, THANK your team members just as much as I thank you.

Alternatives: You can always donate $15 or more as an individual. All donations are greatly appreciated. Moreover, if you can gather a group that is less than 15 to donate, we encourage you to do so.

Deadline: February 7th 2009 because the auditions for scholarships are the following weeks. The earlier you start the more chances you have of recruiting 15 or more~
